Our Story
Founded on July 2, 2012, by Mrs. Akua Tutu, Lotus International School began as Lotus Educational Centre, launching with a six-week summer camp attended by over 30 students. By September 2012, Lotus expanded into afterschool programs and introduced holiday programs such as the Christmas Jamboree, Easter Revision, and Back to School Program, which continue to thrive today.
Growth and the Homeschool Program (2015 - 2019)
In 2015, Lotus introduced a homeschool program, starting with 11-year-old twins from Switzerland who, despite being at a Class 2 level, progressed to Class 6 within 1 year and 8 months. The program’s success attracted more students, offering one-on-one instruction that helped learners quickly catch up on their curriculum. By 2017, 8 homeschool students successfully transitioned to Ghana Christian High International School after passing the entrance exam.
By January 2019, growing demand led parents to enroll their children full-time, prompting Lotus to expand into primary education.

Adapting During the COVID-19 Pandemic (2020)
In 2020, the preschool was temporarily shut down, and some teachers provided home-based instruction, though it proved less effective. For the first time, summer camp classes were conducted online. When schools resumed in September 2020, Lotus adapted by splitting its premises—one side for homeschoolers and the other for students attending online classes with their respective schools, supervised by Lotus teachers.
Expansion and Establishment of a Full School (2021 - 2025)
By 2021, Lotus saw significant growth, officially reopening the preschool with over 15 students and four teachers. A new primary and secondary school building was constructed, and the first preschool graduation was held.
The school continued to expand as enrollment grew. By September 2023, a new secondary school building was completed, dedicated to students in Years 7 to 13. In September 2024, a science floor was added, featuring Biology, Chemistry, and Physics labs, a library, and a study room. By February 2025, a kitchen and canteen area was built on the rooftop of the old building, adjacent to the science floor. Above the science floor, a multipurpose hall was created for examinations, dance rehearsals, Taekwondo, music, art, and other extracurricular activities.

Looking Ahead
From a small summer camp to a thriving educational institution, Lotus International School continues to build a firm foundation for the future, nurturing students through academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development.
